Frequently Asked

have more questions?

"Wow, where to begin! Amanda is SO amazing, kind, and absolutely fantastic at what she does. We were lucky to have Amanda as our photographer at our wedding and because of Amanda we have TONS of beautiful photos that we will cherish forever! Our families absolutely adored her, she goes above and beyond, and was so great about communication. I can’t stop looking at our photos, I love them! Thank you Amanda!!"

Great question! Every sunrise and sunset will be different depending on the year, side of the island, and weather. Generally, sunset is more golden with colorful skies, and sunrise on the west side of the Island will often have a soft blue sky, a softer pastel light, slightly cooler temperature. Most travelers here are adjusted to an earlier time zone, so sunrise is great for kids and early risers. Beaches tend to be very quiet at sunrise, while at sunset you will have more than a few beachgoers around.

why shoot at sunrise or sunset? The difference?

Q: What if it rains on our wedding day?
A: Rain can create dreamy and romantic moments! I bring a clear umbrella for beautiful rain shots, and we can embrace the rain or use a tent as a backup. Many outdoor locations also have sheltered spots we can utilize, or reserve a tent depending on the location.

Q: Do I need a permit for my wedding location?
A: Yes, most Hawaii locations require permits for ceremonies and photography. I’ll guide you through the permit process. Note some locations require a special use permit and 45 days min in advance.

Q: When is the best time for photos?
A: Golden hour (just after sunrise or before sunset) offers the most flattering light and stunning backdrops. For midday ceremonies, I bring the right tools to work with bright sunlight.

Q: When will we receive our photos?
A: You’ll receive a sneak peek of 5-10 edited photos within 3 days and the full gallery within 14 days.

Q: Do you edit the photos?
A: Yes, every photo is professionally edited to match my clean, timeless style. Beyond removing people from the background in public beaches, advanced retouching and face-swapping is an additional cost. I do not include or encourage body-altering Photoshop edits.

Q: How many photos will we receive?
A: I deliver an average of 80+ photos per hour of coverage, capturing a mix of candid and posed moments. You'll receive all the best hi-resolution images in your gallery.

Q: What if we run behind schedule?
A: I’m flexible and prepared for the unexpected. If more time is needed, additional coverage can be arranged at an hourly rate. I also know how to work quickly and calmly under pressure.

Q: What should we do to prepare for photos?
A: Relax and enjoy your day! I’ll guide you through poses and ensure everything feels natural. Bring any special items, like heirlooms or props, that you’d like incorporated.

Q: How far in advance should we book?
A: I recommend booking 3-12 months in advance to secure your date, as Hawaii is a popular destination.

Q: Do you require a deposit?
A: Yes, a non-refundable deposit is required to secure your date, and the balance is due 2 weeks before the wedding.

Q: Do you travel to other islands?
A: Yes! I’m based on The Big Island but love traveling to all Hawaiian islands. A travel fee will apply for locations on other Islands.

Q: Can family and friends take photos during the ceremony?
A: I prefer unplugged ceremonies—they’re more intentional and photograph beautifully. Rest assured, I use two cameras and a double SD system, so I’m capturing many images with backups. If you need a content creator for social media, I have a great recommendation. You can also remind guests with a text message, a sign that says “Unplugged Ceremony,” or designate a single point person to take videos on their phone.

Q: How do we book you?
A: Reach out via my website’s contact form, and we’ll schedule a consultation to discuss your vision. Once details are finalized, I’ll send a contract and invoice to confirm your booking.

I can't wait to hear from you!
